Standard Specification for Polypropylene Pipe, 300- to 1500-mm (12- to 60-in.) Diameter

SKU115524754 Published by American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials AASHTO Publication Date2020 Pages CountPages15

The AASHTO M 330-20 standard specifies the requirements and testing methods for corrugated polypropylene (PP) pipe, couplings, and fittings used in surface and subsurface drainage applications. This standard covers nominal sizes ranging from 300 to 1500 mm (12 to 60 inches). It provides guidelines for the materials used, workmanship, dimensions, pipe stiffness, environmental stress crack resistance, joining systems, brittleness, and marking requirements.

The corrugated polypropylene pipe is primarily used for collecting and conveying drainage water through open gravity flow in culverts, storm drains, and sewers. However, it does not cover applications that require a minimum pipe stiffness over 314 kPa (46 psi) and low-pressure watertight joints for sanitary sewer applications larger than 600 mm (24 inches).

It's important to note that this specification does not include requirements for bedding, backfill, or earth cover load. The proper performance of the product is dependent on proper bedding, backfill, and installation procedures. The standard refers to the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Section 12, and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Construction Specifications, Section 30, for guidelines regarding the structural design and installation procedures of thermoplastic pipe. Additionally, the manufacturer can provide profile wall section details upon request for a full engineering evaluation.

It's worth mentioning that this standard was previously designated as provisional standard MP 21.
