Standard ENStandard Method of Test for Moisture-Density Relations of Soil-Cement Mixtures
Also Known As:
AASHTO T 134-19 is a standard test method that is used to determine the moisture-density relations of soil-cement mixtures. This test is performed on compacted soil-cement mixtures before the cement hydration process. The test utilizes a 1/30-ft3 mold and a 5.5-lb rammer that is dropped from a height of 12 inches. The standard covers two methods, Method A and Method B, depending on the soil gradation.
Method A is used when the entire soil sample passes through a 4.75-mm sieve, while Method B is used when part of the soil sample is retained on the 4.75-mm sieve. Method B is suitable for soil-cement mixtures with 30% or less material retained on a 19.0-mm sieve. Any material retained on these sieves is considered as oversized particles or coarse particles.
It is important to note that the standard specifies rounding off of observed or calculated values to the nearest unit in the last right-hand place of figures used in expressing the limiting value. This specification ensures consistency and conformity with the standards outlined in AASHTO T 134-19.
