Standard EN SampleStandard Specification for Steel Wire, Deformed, for Concrete Reinforcement
Also Known As:
The AASHTO M 225M/M 225-09 (2013) standard provides guidelines for the production and use of deformed steel wire in reinforced concrete structures. This specification applies to deformed steel wire that has undergone cold working processes such as drawing, rolling, or both, and can be used in its produced form or as a fabricated component for concrete reinforcement.
The standard specifies that the nominal cross-sectional area of the deformed steel wire should be no less than 6.45 mm² [0.01 in²]. This ensures that the wire is of sufficient size and strength to effectively reinforce concrete structures. The deformed nature of the wire, obtained through the cold working processes, enhances bonding with the concrete, providing improved load-bearing capacity and resistance to cracking.
