Standard ENProvisional Standard Method of Test for Determining the Viscosity of Emulsified Asphalt by a Rotational Paddle Viscometer
Also Known As:
AASHTO TP 121-16 is a provisional standard method used to determine the viscosity of emulsified asphalt using a rotational paddle viscometer. This standard is applicable to all the emulsified asphalts specified in the M 140, M 208, and M 316 documents. The temperature range for testing is from 25°C to below 90°C (77°F to below 194°F).
It is important to note that the viscometer used in this test method can measure the viscosity at various temperatures, namely 25°C, 40°C, 50°C, 80°C, and 90°C, without the need for any external ancillary equipment. Additionally, the temperature probe is inserted directly into the liquid sample during the viscosity measurement. The viscosity range that can be measured using this method is between 30 mPa·s and 3000 mPa·s (30 to 3000 cP).
