The AASHTO T 158-11 (2019) standard provides guidelines for determining the relative quantity of mixing water that will bleed from a sample of freshly mixed concrete. The standard includes two test methods, which differ primarily in the degree of vibration applied to the concrete sample.

It is important to note that the two test methods are not expected to yield the same results when samples of concrete from the same batch are tested using each method. Therefore, if comparisons are to be made between different concretes, all tests should be conducted using the same method. Additionally, if the batches of concrete being tested have similar unit weights, the sample masses should not differ by more than 1 kg (2 lb).
