The AASHTO T 232-90 (2018) standard provides a detailed procedure for determining the lime content in soils or aggregates that have undergone treatment with hydrated lime. The test method relies on the continuous neutralization of an aqueous solution obtained from the lime-treated specimen over a specified duration. This is achieved by adding a suitable quantity of acid that is just sufficient to neutralize the lime being dissolved during the test. The quantity of acid required is directly proportional to the lime content present in the specimen.
