Standard EN SampleStandard Specification for Steel Anchor Bolts
Also Known As:
AASHTO M 314-90 (2018) is a standard specification that provides guidelines for the manufacturing and use of steel anchor bolts used in concrete foundations to anchor structural supports. These supports can include building columns, highway sign columns, street lighting poles, traffic signals, and steel bearing plates, among others.
The standard specifies the requirements for externally threaded anchor bolts and their properties. The anchor bolts are subjected to tensile property requirements and are available in three different grades, which correspond to different yield strength levels. This allows for the selection of anchor bolts with suitable strength for specific applications.
In addition to the mechanical properties, the standard also includes special chemical restrictions when weldable steel is required. This ensures the proper quality and performance of the anchor bolts when welding is involved.
Corrosion protection is another important aspect covered by the standard. Zinc coating, also known as galvanizing, is required for anchor bolts that need corrosion protection. This coating helps to extend the service life of the anchor bolts by preventing the corrosion of the steel in damp or corrosive environments.
