Standard ENStandard Specification for Ready-Mixed White and Yellow Traffic Paints
Also Known As:
The AASHTO M 248-91 (2012) standard has been discontinued due to concerns regarding the obsolescence of materials and regulatory compliance. However, there is an alternative specification called MP 24, which is not a direct substitute for M 248.
The purpose of this specification was to define the requirements for alkyd resin type, ready-mixed white and yellow traffic paints. These paints were specifically intended for use on bituminous and portland cement concrete pavements.
Additionally, this standard stated that these paints could be made reflective for nighttime visibility by adding reflective spheres to the paint film before it dries or sets. The two methods mentioned for adding these spheres were the drop-on method and the pressurized method.
