The AASHTO M 246-15 (2019) standard provides guidelines for the manufacturing and use of polymer-precoated steel sheet in the construction of corrugated steel pipes (CSP). The steel sheet is coated with a metallic layer, which can be either zinc or aluminum-zinc alloy, and is then further protected with a polymer coating applied by coil coating or laminating processes.
The specification covers various forms of the sheet, including flat coils, flat cut lengths, and corrugated cut lengths. In all cases, the sheet is required to have a mill-applied polymer coating on one or both sides to enhance its durability and resistance to corrosion.
