Standard ENStandard Method of Test for Estimating Fatigue Resistance of Asphalt Binders Using the Linear Amplitude Sweep
Also Known As:
The AASHTO TP 101-12 (2018) Standard Method of Test for Estimating Fatigue Resistance of Asphalt Binders Using the Linear Amplitude Sweep is a procedure used to determine the fatigue resistance of asphalt binders. This is achieved by subjecting the binder to cyclic loading with systematically increasing load amplitudes. The test is conducted using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) at an intermediate pavement temperature determined by the asphalt binder's performance grade (PG) as per M 320. The test can also be performed on aged binders using procedures such as T 240 (RTFOT) and R 28 (PAV) to simulate the aging condition of in-service asphalt pavements. This standard provides a reliable method for evaluating the fatigue resistance of asphalt binders, which is essential for ensuring the durability and long-lasting performance of asphalt pavements.
