Recent Developments in High Strain Rate Mechanics and Impact Behavior of Concrete
Also Known As:
ACI SP-347:2021 is a symposium volume that highlights the latest advancements in the field of high strain rate mechanics and the behavior of concrete under impact loads. The publication aims to provide valuable information for designing concrete structures that can withstand a variety of impact loads, including those caused by ballistic projectiles, vehicular collisions, explosions, and natural disasters like tsunamis and storm surges.
The volume comprises 14 papers presented by international experts from various countries, including Australia, Canada, China, and the United States. These papers cover a wide range of topics related to concrete materials and structures exposed to impact loading, including the behavior of different types of cementitious materials, the use of fiber reinforcement, the performance of externally bonded cementitious layers and coatings, and the response of concrete barriers and beams under impact.
The symposium volume was originally intended to be presented during the ACI Spring 2020 Convention but was disrupted due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the editors express their gratitude to the authors, ACI Committee 370, reviewers, and ACI staff for their contributions and support in bringing this publication to fruition.
