Standard ENMethods of Testing Concrete - Accelerated Curing of Concrete Compression Test Specimens - Hot Water Method
Also Known As:
AS 1012.19.1:2000 (R2014) provides a standard method for accelerated curing of concrete compression test specimens using hot water. This method is applicable to test specimens made in the laboratory or in the field and prepared in accordance with AS 1012.8.1. The purpose of accelerated curing is to speed up the curing process to obtain test results within a shorter time frame.
The standard specifies that the accelerated curing is achieved by immersing the test specimens in hot water at a temperature of 82°C. This hot water method enables the transportation of test specimens from the field to a curing tank in a laboratory, ensuring consistency in the curing process. The specimens are allowed to cure in the hot water for a specific duration of time, usually between 23 h and 27 h from the time of batching.
