Therefore, the owner of the reinforced concrete pipe must ensure that field requirements match the specified class of pipe and provide inspection at the construction site.

It is worth mentioning that there is another ASTM specification, namely Reinforced Concrete D-load Culvert, Storm Drain, and Sewer Pipe (Specification C655), which differs from ASTM C1846/C1846M-19. The distinction lies in the D-load specified and the practice for sampling pipe conformance to the specification. ASTM C1846/C1846M-19 relies on standard classes of pipe (Class I-V) and requires sampling in accordance with Section 11.
