The ASTM D7113/D7113M-10 (R2016) standard describes a test method for determining the in-place density and relative compaction of compacted bituminous mixtures used in pavement construction.

The test method is nondestructive and provides a rapid technique for determining the density of the pavement. It can be used to establish the proper rolling effort and pattern needed to achieve the required density. The device should either have design parameters that reduce sensitivity to moisture and temperature, or measurements and algorithms to account for these variations in the rolling pattern.
