Standard ENStandard Test Method for Measuring Rheological Properties of Cementitious Materials Using Coaxial Rotational Rheometer
Also Known As:
The ASTM C1874-20 standard is a method used to measure the rheological properties of cementitious paste or mortar. Rheological properties provide information about the workability of the material, including its flowability and the influence of specific materials or combinations of materials on flowability.
One of the key considerations when using this test method is the sensitivity of rheological properties to sample heterogeneities. Special care must be taken to avoid issues such as sedimentation, particle migration away from the spindle, and slippage at the surface of the spindle and container.
This test method is applicable for cementitious materials with particles up to 1 mm in diameter. It allows for the measurement of properties such as plastic viscosity and yield stress, which are important parameters in assessing the behavior and performance of these materials.
