Standard ENStandard Test Method for Water Loss [from a Mortar Specimen] Through Liquid Membrane-Forming Curing Compounds for Concrete
Also Known As:
ASTM C156-20 is a standard test method that is used to determine the water loss through liquid membrane-forming curing compounds for concrete. The purpose of this test is to assess the suitability of materials for contributing to an appropriate curing environment for concrete. The ability of the tested curing materials to impede the escape of water from a hydraulic cement mortar is measured in order to evaluate their effectiveness in retaining water in fresh concrete and promoting the hydration process.
Several factors can affect the results of this laboratory test, including the precision of temperature, humidity, and air circulation control in the curing cabinet, the preparation and sealing of the mortar specimens, the age and surface condition of the mortar specimen when the curing product is applied, and the uniformity and quantity of application of the curing membrane. Due to these factors, the test results may be highly variable.
