Standard ENStandard Test Method for Temperature of Freshly Mixed Hydraulic-Cement Concrete
Also Known As:
The ASTM C1064/C1064M-17 standard provides a procedure for measuring the temperature of freshly mixed concrete. The temperature measurement obtained through this test method represents the temperature at the time of testing and may not reflect the temperature of the concrete at a later time. It can be used to verify if the concrete meets the specified temperature requirements.
The standard acknowledges that in concrete with aggregate larger than 75 mm (3 inches), it may take up to 20 minutes for the heat to transfer from the aggregate to the surrounding mortar. This information is based on the ACI Committee 207.1R Report.
The standard encompasses the determination of temperature for hydraulic-cement concrete. It allows for the values to be expressed in either SI or inch-pound units, but emphasizes that the two systems should be used independently as they may not be exact equivalents. The standard also includes explanatory notes and footnotes, which are not considered requirements of the standard except for those found in tables and figures.
