Standard ENStandard Specification for Adhered Concrete Masonry Units
Also Known As:
ASTM C1877-19 is a standard specification that defines the requirements for solid, dry-cast, concrete masonry units used as adhered veneer for both interior and exterior applications. These units are composed of portland cement, water, and suitable mineral aggregates, which may or may not include other materials.
The specification includes explanatory notes and footnotes that provide additional information, but these notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) are not considered requirements of the standard.
Note 1 clarifies that the adhered concrete masonry units covered by this specification can be made from lightweight or normal weight aggregates, or a combination of both.
Note 2 recommends that if specific features are desired, such as density classification, surface textures, finish, color, fire resistance, insulation, acoustical properties, or any other special features, these properties should be separately specified by the purchaser. It is advised that suppliers be consulted regarding the availability of adhered concrete masonry units that possess the desired features.
