The ASTM C1439-19 standard provides a set of procedures for testing and evaluating the impact of polymer modifiers on concrete and mortar mixtures. These test methods are not intended to simulate real job conditions, but rather to compare the properties of polymer-modified specimens with reference mixtures.

The purpose of these test methods is to determine the effect of adding polymer modifiers to reference concrete or mortar. While most sections of ASTM test methods for hydraulic cement mortar and concrete apply to specimens made with polymer modifiers, there are some exceptions, such as curing, which require special procedures to develop the properties inherent to polymer modification. These exceptions are covered by the test methods outlined in this standard.

It is important to note that for testing polymer-modified mortar and concrete specimens, the procedures in this standard take precedence over the referenced ASTM test methods and practices. However, this standard is not applicable to dry, packaged mortar and concrete.
