Standard ENStandard Test Method for Flow Characteristics of Preformed Tape Sealants
Also Known As:
The ASTM C1266-17 standard provides a laboratory procedure for determining the flow characteristics of tape sealants. These sealants are tacky, deformable solids used for sealing applications between two or more surfaces of similar or dissimilar substrates. Typically supplied in roll form with a release paper interlever, these tape sealants are hand pressed against a fixed substrate.
The purpose of this standard is to assess the flow characteristics of a tape sealant under controlled temperature and aging conditions with a specified load. The test method involves subjecting the sealant to a specified time, temperature, and load and evaluating its flow behavior.
It is worth noting that the committee responsible for this standard is not aware of any similar specifications within ISO or any other organization.
