Standard ENStandard Test Method for Determining Potential Resistance to Degradation of Pervious Concrete by Impact and Abrasion
Also Known As:
The ASTM C1747/C1747M-13 standard is a test method for evaluating the potential resistance to degradation of pervious concrete due to impact and abrasion. Pervious concrete pavements commonly experience raveling, and this test allows for the comparison of different mixtures of pervious concrete to determine their relative potential resistance to raveling. However, it is important to note that this test method does not address other causes of raveling in the field, such as improper paste consistency, workability loss, inadequate compaction, and improper curing. Furthermore, there is no known correlation between the results of this test method and the actual field performance of pervious concrete.
The information obtained through this test method can be used to compare different mixture proportions, but it is not intended for mixture qualification or acceptance testing at the job site. The test method is applicable to pervious concrete mixtures that contain coarse aggregate with a nominal maximum size of 25 mm [1 in.] or smaller. It is important to note that this test method is only applicable to cylindrical specimens cast as described in the standard, and the precision and bias of the test method have not been evaluated for drilled cores.
