Standard ENStandard Test Method for Measuring Changes in Height of Cylindrical Specimens of Hydraulic-Cement Grout
Also Known As:
The ASTM C1090/C1090M-15 standard is a test method used to measure the changes in height of cylindrical specimens of hydraulic-cement grout. The purpose of this test is to determine the ability of the grout to retain a stable volume over a 28-day period, excluding any height changes caused by drying, moisture uptake, carbonation, or exposure to temperatures outside the range of 23 ± 2.0°C.
The test is conducted using 75 by 150-mm cylindrical specimens, which are protected to prevent evaporation and other external factors from affecting the height measurements. The standard specifies that the test should be performed at a temperature range of 23 ± 2.0°C, but it allows for the option of testing at another specified temperature within ±2.0°C.
It should be noted that this test method only measures the changes in height after the grout has set, and does not measure the change in height before setting. Additionally, the standard provides flexibility for adapting the test method to different schedules or environmental treatments if desired.
