Standard Specification for Flat Fiber-Cement Sheets

The ASTM C1186-08 (R2016) standard is a specification for flat fiber-cement sheets used for exterior applications such as claddings, facades, curtain walls, and soffits. These sheets can be either untextured or surface textured and are designed to withstand the direct action of sun, rain, or snow in Type A applications, or for applications not directly exposed to these elements in Type B applications.
This standard specifically excludes asbestos-cement flat sheets, gypsum-based boards, particle boards, non-asbestos fiber-cement interior substrate sheets, fiber-mat reinforced non-asbestos cement interior substrate sheets, and cement-bonded particleboards.
The standard specifies the mechanical and physical requirements for the flat sheets, including flexural strength, density, dimensions (length, width, thickness, squareness, and edge straightness), finish, and color.
