Standard ENStandard Specification for High Solids Content, Cold Liquid-Applied Elastomeric Waterproofing Membrane for Use with Separate Wearing Course
Also Known As:
The ASTM C836/C836M-18 standard specifies the properties and test methods for cold liquid-applied elastomeric waterproofing membranes. This standard is applicable to membranes used for waterproofing building decks and walls that are subject to hydrostatic pressure in areas that will be occupied by personnel, vehicles, or equipment. The membrane system described in this standard is designed to be covered with a separate wearing course, traffic course, or backfill.
The materials used for the membrane should form an elastomeric film after application, capable of maintaining a seal against liquid water. The standard includes various tests to ensure the quality of the membrane, such as hardness, weight loss, nonvolatile matter content, low temperature crack bridging, film thickness, adhesion-in-peel after water immersion, extensibility after heat aging, and storage stability.
It should be noted that proper application of the membrane is crucial, and the standard references other ASTM guides for guidance on installation (specifically Guide C898/C898M and Guide C1471/C1471M). This ASTM standard does not have any ISO equivalents or similar standards.
