The ASTM D2028/D2028M-15 standard is a specification that outlines the requirements for cutback petroleum asphalts of the rapid-curing type. Cutback asphalt is used in the construction and treatment of pavements.
According to the standard, the cutback asphalt should not foam when heated to the application temperature. It also sets requirements for various properties of the asphalt. These properties include kinematic viscosity, flash point, distillate content, amount of residue from distillation, and properties of residue such as viscosity, ductility, and solubility in trichloroethylene. Additionally, the water content is specified.
