Standard EN SampleStandard Practice for Clearance Examinations Following Lead Hazard Reduction Activities in Multifamily Dwellings
Also Known As:
ASTM E2271/E2271M-18 is a standard practice that involves clearance examinations following lead hazard reduction activities in multifamily dwellings. It ensures that the clearance area is adequately safe for reoccupancy after lead-hazard control activities, building maintenance, or modification activities have taken place.
The user of this standard is responsible for ensuring that all regulatory, contractual, and personnel requirements are met before conducting a clearance examination. Training in the use of the standard and safe practices for its conduct is also mandatory.
This standard is part of a set of standards for lead hazard management activities. The visual assessment procedures required can be found in Practice E2255/E2255M, while the record keeping requirements are specified in Practice E2239. While primarily developed for multifamily dwellings, this standard can also be applied to nonresidential buildings and related structures by agreement between the client and the individual conducting the clearance examination.
Various stakeholders can benefit from this practice, including owners, property managers, lead hazard management consultants, construction contractors, labor groups, real estate and financial professionals, insurance organizations, legislators, regulators, and legal professionals.
It is important to note that this standard does not address whether lead-hazard reduction activities or other building modification or maintenance work were done properly.
