Standard EN SampleReinforced Concrete Pressure Pipe, Noncylinder Type
Also Known As:
The AWWA C302-16 standard specifies the manufacturing guidelines for non-cylinder type concrete pressure pipes. These pipes are made without a steel cylinder and are not prestressed. They are available in sizes ranging from 12 to 144 inches (300 to 3,660 mm), with a maximum working pressure of 55 psi (380 kPa) and a total pressure of 65 psi (450 kPa) including surge pressures.
The standard does not cover the design, handling, delivery, laying, field testing, or disinfection of the pipes. These aspects are to be determined by the purchaser. The reinforced concrete pressure pipes described in this standard have the following features: a reinforcing cage consisting of steel rods, bars, wire, or fabric; a concrete wall that covers the reinforcing cage both inside and outside; and a joint with a preformed rubber gasket that is specifically designed to provide a watertight seal under all service conditions.
The purpose of the AWWA C302-16 standard is to establish the minimum requirements for the fabrication and testing of non-cylinder type concrete pressure pipes. It serves as a guideline for purchasers, manufacturers, and constructors involved in the production and installation of these pipes.
