Precast Concrete Products: Elements for Fences

BS EN 12839:2012 is a European standard that outlines the specifications for precast concrete products used for fences. These products can be made of reinforced or pre-stressed concrete, with or without fibres. They can be used individually or in combination with other elements to create fences, such as boundary fences.
The standard covers both the mechanical resistance of the products, which is determined through calculation, and their load bearing capacity, which is determined through testing. The products include posts, solid or open panels, slabs, rails, spurs, struts, and base panels. These elements can be made of normal weight concrete or lightweight concrete.
The standard also specifies that the intended use of the products may be nonstructural or lightly structural. It provides guidelines for evaluating the conformity of the elements to the standard, and includes requirements for marking the products to indicate their compliance with the standard.
