Standard EN SampleStructural Bearings: Spherical and Cylindrical PTFE Bearings
Also Known As:
BS EN 1337-7:2004 is a European standard that specifies the requirements for the design and manufacturing of spherical and cylindrical PTFE bearings. This standard does not cover bearings with an included angle larger than 60° for spherical bearings and 75° for cylindrical bearings. The standard also mentions that the requirements and properties of the curved sliding surfaces are covered in EN 1337-2.
To control the degree of freedom, the bearings can be combined with flat sliding elements and guides according to EN 1337-2:2004. Additionally, restraining rings are mentioned in the standard as a means to further control the bearings. Cylindrical bearings are noted to be susceptible to unexpected moments about the transverse axis of the cylindrical surface. Any additional limitations for the application of these bearings can be found in clause 1 of EN 1337-2:2004.
