BS EN 1090-4:2018 is a European Standard that specifies the technical requirements for the execution of cold-formed structural steel elements and structures for roof, ceiling, floor, and wall applications. It covers the manufacture and installation of these elements and structures according to the EN 1993 series design rules.

The standard applies to structural members and sheeting that are designed according to EN 1993-1-3, but it can also be used for structures designed according to other design rules as long as the necessary execution conditions are met.

Additionally, BS EN 1090-4:2018 covers the execution of structures made from cold-formed profiled sheeting for predominantly static or seismic loading conditions. It includes requirements for the manufacture, installation, and documentation of these structures.

The standard also addresses various aspects, such as not welded built-up sections, cold-formed hollow sections, perforated and punctured sheeting, as well as spacer constructions between outer and inner skins for roofs, walls, and ceilings.

However, it should be noted that BS EN 1090-4:2018 does not cover analyses, detailing, and execution rules for thermal insulation, moisture protection, noise control, fire protection, as well as regulations for roof cladding and wall cladding produced by traditional methods. It also does not cover water tightness, air permeability resistance, and thermal aspects of sheeting in detail.
