Standard EN SampleCement: Composition, Specifications, and Conformity Criteria for Very Low Heat Special Cements
Also Known As:
BS EN 14216:2015 is a European standard that provides the composition, specifications, and conformity criteria for very low heat special cements. The standard defines six distinct products and their constituents, specifying the proportions in which the constituents should be combined to produce these products with a limited heat of hydration value. It also includes requirements for the constituents and sets out the mechanical, physical, chemical, and heat of hydration requirements for the cements.
The standard also states the conformity criteria and related rules for these special cements, as well as necessary durability requirements. It emphasizes that in addition to the specified requirements, an exchange of additional information between the cement producer and user can be helpful and should be conducted in accordance with national standards or regulations, or can be agreed upon between the parties involved.
Two notes are provided in the standard for clarification purposes. Note 1 specifies that the term "cement" in this standard refers specifically to very low heat special cement, unless otherwise indicated. Note 2 highlights that the risk of early-age thermal cracking in concrete depends not only on the heat of hydration of the cement but also on other factors such as properties and execution.
