Standard EN SampleTesting Fresh Concrete: Air Content Pressure Methods
Also Known As:
The BS EN 12350-7:2019 standard outlines two methods for determining the air content of compacted fresh concrete. These methods are specifically applicable to concrete made with normal weight or relatively dense aggregates, where the coarsest fraction of aggregates used (Dmax) does not exceed 63 mm.
It is important to note that this test is not suitable for concretes with slumps less than 10 mm, as specified in EN 12350-2. Additionally, the standard states that neither method can be applied to concretes made with lightweight aggregates, air-cooled blast-furnace slag, or aggregates with high porosity. This is due to the significant difference in the aggregate correction factor compared to the entrained air content of the concrete in such cases.
