Eurocode 2: Design of concrete structures. General rules and rules for buildings
Also Known As:
BS EN 1992-1-1:2004+A1:2014, titled Eurocode 2: Design of concrete structures. General rules and rules for buildings, is a standard that provides general rules for the design of structures in plain, reinforced, and prestressed concrete, with specific rules for buildings. It is targeted towards architects, designers, structural engineers, and the concrete industry.
Using this standard is important because it contains the most up-to-date and technically accurate guidelines for designing with concrete. It covers various aspects such as shear punching resistance, ductility characteristics, and technical changes related to the limiting value of punching shear capacity and creep in plain concrete walls and columns.
Since the last update, the standard has undergone changes in terms of the National Annex. These changes include incorporating alterations to National Determined Parameters and introducing a new value for the punching shear resistance of slabs and column bases with shear reinforcement. Additionally, there have been modifications to Table NA.1, which contains recommended values for BS EN 1992-1-1, including corrigenda from January 2008, November 2010, February 2014, and amendment A1:2014.
