Standard EN SampleSampling and Examination of Bituminous Mixtures for Roads and Other Paved Areas: Analytical Test Methods
Also Known As:
BS 598-102:2003 is a British Standard that provides analytical test methods for examining bituminous mixtures used in roads and other paved areas. However, it does not cover mastic asphalts, as separate methods are described in BS 5284 for testing those materials. The standard also excludes test methods for bituminous mixtures made with modified binders, as the described methods only provide approximate binder content for such mixtures.
This standard specifies limits for the repeatability and reproducibility of samples obtained from the same bulk sample. It also outlines procedures for determining the binder content and grading of the mineral aggregate, as well as determining the water content and making adjustments for soluble binder content. Additionally, the standard addresses the analysis of materials passing the 0.063 mm test sieve.
