Standard EN SampleBituminous Mixtures - Test Methods - Permeability of Specimen
Also Known As:
The BS EN 12697-19:2020 standard outlines a test method for determining the permeability of bituminous mixtures. This method focuses on evaluating the vertical and horizontal permeability of cylindrical specimens that have interconnected voids. The standard applies to specimens obtained from road cores, laboratory-made slabs, or laboratory specimens prepared using a compaction device, provided that the specimen thickness is at least twice the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate.
According to the standard, the nominal diameter of the specimens should be either 100 mm or 150 mm. However, if the nominal maximum particle size of the aggregate exceeds 22 mm, then the nominal diameter of the specimens should be 150 mm. This distinction ensures that the test method is suitable for different types of bituminous mixtures based on their aggregate characteristics.
