Standard EN SampleFire Resistance Tests for Non-Loadbearing Elements: Curtain Walling Full Configuration (Complete Assembly)
Also Known As:
BS EN 1364-3:2014 is a European Standard that provides a method for testing the fire resistance of curtain walling full configuration. The standard is used in conjunction with EN 1363 1 and is specifically applicable to curtain walling type B, excluding type A. The fire resistance of curtain walling can be determined under internal or external exposure conditions, with the external fire exposure curve given in EN 1363 2 serving as a reference, subject to national regulations.
It is important to note that this standard does not cover the testing of individual parts of a curtain walling or systems with fire resistance requirements limited to the spandrel area, which should be assessed using EN 1364 4. Additionally, this standard does not address double skin façades, over-cladding systems, and ventilated façade systems on external walls. The standard does not deal with the reaction to fire behavior of curtain walling and should be read in conjunction with EN 1363 1 and EN 1363 2 for comprehensive understanding and implementation. Annex B of the standard provides further information on the test method.
