The BS EN 12697-13:2017 standard provides guidelines for measuring the temperature of asphalt mixtures in various stages of their lifecycle, including mixing, storage, transportation, and laying.

The standard includes two methods for temperature measurement: one using a contact temperature-measuring device and the other using a non-contact temperature-measuring device, specifically an infrared thermometer. While both methods are accepted, in case of any disputes, the contact temperature-measuring device is considered the reference method.
