Eurocode 9. Design of aluminium structures. Structures susceptible to fatigue
Also Known As:
The BS EN 1999-1-3:2007+A1:2011 standard, also known as Eurocode 9, provides guidelines for the design of aluminium structures that are susceptible to fatigue. The standard covers various aspects such as same life design, damage tolerant design, and design assisted by testing. It is meant to be used in conjunction with EN 1090-3, which specifies the requirements for the execution of aluminium structures.
The standard is divided into several sections, including general principles, basis of structural design, materials and connecting devices, durability, structural analysis, and ultimate limit state of fatigue. Additionally, there are informative annexes that provide guidance on topics such as calculation of fatigue resistance, assessment by fracture mechanics, testing for fatigue design, and stress analysis.
It should be noted that this standard does not cover pressurized containment vessels or pipe-work. BS EN 1999-1-3:2007 supersedes DD ENV 1999-2:2000 and partially supersedes BS 8118-1:1991.
