Standard EN SampleRailway Applications: Track - Acceptance of Works - Acceptance of Reprofiling Rails in Track
Also Known As:
BS EN 13231-3:2012 is a European standard that outlines the technical requirements and measurements necessary for the acceptance of reprofiling works on railway tracks. Specifically, it focuses on the reprofiling of the heads of railway rails, both longitudinally and transversely. The standard defines two classes for longitudinal profile tolerance and three classes for transverse profile tolerance.
The standard also includes annexes that provide procedures for verifying the reference instruments used for these measurements, as well as methods for approving non-reference instruments. It is important to note that this standard only applies to reprofiled vignole railway rails that are 46 kg/m and above. It does not cover acoustic rail reprofiling.
To ensure compatibility and compliance, the standard includes a suggested form of acceptance documentation in Annex E that can be used to verify the completed reprofiling work.
