Standard EN SampleTesting Concrete in Structures - Non-Destructive Testing - Determination of Rebound Number
Also Known As:
The BS EN 12504-2:2012 standard outlines a method for determining the rebound number of hardened concrete using a spring-driven hammer. This test can be used to assess the uniformity of concrete in structures and identify areas of poor quality or deteriorated concrete. It is important to note that this method is not a substitute for the compressive strength determination of concrete, but it can provide an estimate of in situ compressive strength with suitable correlation. For the assessment of in-situ compressive strength, reference should be made to EN 13791. The hammer can also be used for comparative testing by referencing it against a concrete with known strength or against a concrete that has been verified to conform to a particular strength class.
