Construction and Test of Picture Machines and Appliances
Also Known As:
The CSA C22.2 NO. 118-1959 (R2013) standard provides specifications and guidelines for the construction and testing of various types of picture machines and photographic equipment. This standard specifically applies to portable, non-professional safety film motion picture projectors, slide and filmstrip projectors, film-editing machines, film and slide viewers, photographic printers, and photographic enlargers. These devices are designed to operate with supply potentials of 250 volts or less between conductors and must be installed and used in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
The standard applies to equipment intended for indoor use in ordinary locations, primarily for general domestic purposes. It may also cover some commercial applications that do not necessarily require the oversight of a qualified person. However, the standard does not apply to commercial equipment such as film readers, microfilm cameras, printers and viewers, and production line photographic printing equipment, among others.
