Site Preparation, Foundation, and Installation of Buildings
Also Known As:
CSA Z240.10.1:19 standard is the fifth edition of the standard that supersedes previous editions published in 2016, 2008, 1994, and 1986. The significant changes in this edition focus on climate change adaptation, including provisions on climate data sources, protection against flooding effects, deterioration resistance, and the addition of a new annex on environmental design data and climate change.
The standard applies to single- and multi-section buildings that are supported by longitudinal floor beams or perimeter rim joists designed to function as beams. It specifies requirements for various aspects of building installation, including site preparation, permanent foundations, anchorage to resist wind-induced overturning and pier toppling, connection of modules in multiple-section prefabricated buildings, and skirting.
The intended users of this standard are regulatory authorities, land-lease community owners, building designers, and installers, aiming to ensure proper on-site installation of buildings. It is also intended to be used by builders, building officials, owners, and installers of buildings installed on surface foundations, including prefabricated buildings, as well as multiple-section prefabricated buildings.
