Standard EN SampleConcrete Construction for Housing and Small Buildings
Also Known As:
The CAN/CSA A438-00 (R2004) standard is a national standard of Canada that addresses unreinforced concrete construction for housing and small buildings covered in Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC). In addition to the construction of housing and small buildings, this standard also covers other concrete work such as slabs on the ground, driveways, walkways, patios, steps, and parking areas. It is important to note that construction that includes nominal reinforcement solely for crack control falls within the scope of this standard.
For construction that deviates from the uses described in Clause 1.1 or cases where the construction is designed for strength, the requirements are provided by CSA Standards A23.1 and A23.3. This standard does not cover requirements related to excavation, drainage, and the design of footings and foundations, as these are provided by the applicable building code.
