Precast Concrete - Materials and Construction
Also Known As:
The CSA A23.4-16 (R2021) standard is a set of technical requirements for the manufacture, transportation, and installation of precast concrete products. It is the sixth edition of the standard, superseding previous editions published in 2009, 2005, 2000, 1994, and 1978.
The standard emphasizes the use of materials and methods that ensure the structural adequacy and architectural finishes of architectural precast concrete. It specifically addresses the requirements for precast concrete shop drawings, in addition to those specified in CSA A23.3.
The scope of the standard covers all types of precast concrete, including architectural, structural, and specialty products. It is particularly relevant for precast concrete elements used in segmental construction.
In cases where there is a conflict between the requirements of this standard and a referenced standard, the requirements of CSA A23.4-16 (R2021) take precedence.
