Bituminous Mixtures - Material Specifications - Part 1: Asphalt Concrete
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13108-1 standard sets out the requirements for the use of Asphalt Concrete mixtures on roads, airfields, and other trafficked areas. These mixtures are used for various purposes, including surface courses, binder courses, regulating courses, and bases.
The standard specifies that the mixtures of Asphalt Concrete are produced using hot bitumen as the primary ingredient. However, it should be noted that this standard does not cover mixtures that utilize bitumen emulsion or bituminous materials based on in situ recycling.
In addition to establishing requirements for the mixtures themselves, this European Standard also includes guidelines for the selection of constituent materials. It should be read in conjunction with other related standards such as EN 13108-20 and EN 13108-21 to ensure comprehensive understanding and implementation.
