The DIN EN 1742 standard outlines a method for determining the shear strength between different layers or multilayer components made of autoclaved aerated concrete or lightweight aggregate concrete with open structure. The standard specifies the use of a horizontal compression force applied to the bottom layer of the component, while it is positioned horizontally on roller supports near its ends. The opposite end is supported against horizontal displacement and uplifting at the top layer.
During testing, the shear force is measured at the point of fracture in the plane of the component, and this force is then divided by the measured length and width of the component to calculate the shear strength.
