The Eurocode 3: Design of steel structures - Part 1-8: Design of joints, also known as DIN EN 1993-1-8, provides design methods for the design of joints subjected to predominantly static loading. It covers steel grades from S235 up to and including S700, unless otherwise specified in individual clauses.
The standard assumes that the design methods given in EN 1990 and EN 1993-1-1 are applicable. It also assumes that the quality of construction is in accordance with EN 1090-2 or EN 1090-4, and that the construction materials and products used are specified in the relevant parts of EN 1993 or in the relevant material and product specifications.
