Common Rules for Precast Concrete Products

The DIN EN 13369 standard is a European document that outlines the requirements and performance criteria for precast concrete products. This standard covers unreinforced, reinforced, and prestressed precast concrete products made from light-, normal-, and heavyweight concrete. It also includes products that contain fibers other than steel, polymer, or other types of fibers, except for those used for mechanical properties.
This standard does not apply to prefabricated reinforced components of lightweight aggregate concrete with an open structure. However, it can be used to specify products for which there is no existing standard. It is important to note that if a specific product standard exists, it takes precedence over this standard.
The scope of this standard pertains to factory-produced precast concrete products used in building and civil engineering works. In certain cases, it may also apply to products manufactured in temporary on-site plants, provided that production is protected against adverse weather conditions and controlled according to the provisions outlined in Clause 6.
It is worth mentioning that the analysis and design of precast concrete products are not covered by this standard. However, it does provide information for non-seismic zones regarding the selection of partial safety factors defined by the relevant Eurocode and the definition of some requirements for prestressed concrete products.
