Methods of testing cement - Part 1: Determination of strength
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 196-1 standard specifies the method for determining the compressive and flexural strength of cement mortar. It is applicable to various types of cement, including common cements, and can also be used for other cements and materials that adhere to the standards of this method. However, it may not be suitable for cement types with very short initial setting times.
The purpose of this standard is to assess whether the compressive strength of cement complies with its specifications. It also serves as a validation test for a CEN Standard sand, FprEN 196-1, or alternative compaction equipment. The standard outlines the reference equipment and procedure to be followed, but it also allows for the use of validated alternative compaction equipment and procedures. However, in case of any dispute, only the reference equipment and procedure are considered.
