Unbound mixtures - Specifications
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13285 standard is a specification that outlines the requirements for unbound mixtures used in the construction and maintenance of roads, airfields, and other trafficked areas. This standard applies to mixtures of natural, manufactured, and recycled aggregates with a range of particle sizes. The upper sieve size is specified to be between 5.6 mm and 90 mm, while the lower sieve size is set to be 0 at the point of delivery.
It is important to note that mixtures with an upper sieve size greater than 90 mm are not covered by this standard but may be specified for use in specific applications. Additionally, the standard does not provide requirements for the water content of the mixture or the density of the installed layer. These parameters are related to construction control and are outside the scope of this standard.
The requirements for the aggregates used in the mixtures are defined in reference to the EN 13242 standard. It is worth mentioning that this standard does not cover the use of aggregates as soil.
